Snootch asked:

I am remodeling a shower/tub area. I removed the old tiles and the wall underneath is in good shape except for the tub lip which is rusted away. Some of the greenboard looks rotten near the spout and valves. What do I replace the old board with (it is 20 years old)???

The green paper came off with the tiles, what do I put down on the good areas before putting the mastic down? Roofing paper?
If I put down cement board, do I put paper over it before I put down the mastic? What should I use to level the wall once the cement board is down? Thanks SO much!

Vishal asked:

I am going to buy a fixer upper and want to customize the house as per my specific needs.

How do i obtain financing for the remodeling since I will have only 10% equity (which is the downpayment) in the house?

Does the remodeling company offer financing?
Can i get a loan from the mortgage company itself to remodel the house? I don’t have equity in the house so if there is a provision to do something like this then can someone please explain it to me

Thanks

How do I frame a concrete brick wall while remodeling an old house?

riflespinner2000 asked:

We are in the process of remodeling an old concrete brick house after a fire and fire hose flood. In order to bring the house up to code we have to rewire a few walls and add power receptacles. We also want to add insulation. Our idea was to put normal 2X4 framed walls in front of the old concrete walls. This way we could wire and insulate the old house. What is the best way to attach the 2×4 wall to the old concrete wall? This also all has to meet code.
