sheristeele asked:

Have been looking for the serial numbers for a manufactured home that I am buying. The inside one was removed and so was outside one when the home was remodelled. Without going underneath the house can I find out what those numbers are?

I have called Division of motor vehicles, the manufacuturer, the register of deeds, the banks where the home was financed by previous owners, etc. We do not have a title because it is being sold as real property, cannot find the previous owners information and he is uncooperative due to foreclosure.

thanks for help.

Wanting to buy a home using the first time home buyer tax credit by April 30,2010?

Wanted to buy the home and borrow for remodeling the home. Lender says it has to be finished and closed on by June 30, 2010. Why does it matter if the remodeling is finished? Couldn’t we just close on the home and remodel at our own pace. I’m confused.
I am buying from a individual so there is no realtor involved. The home is appraised for the price that I am asking to borrow which includes remodeling.

How do I find out the value of my home & what additions/remodeling items would add more value?

ace asked:

We are considering selling our home in the next year and have been watching a lot of HGtv and DIY. All those shows seem to say the same thing…update your home to increase value. I’d like to have someone come to our home to let us know what we would list our house for today and what additions, changes, remodeled areas would add value to our home so that if we do sell it, we’d be able to make money on those changes. And, if we don’t sell, we’d be able to enjoy those changes for years to come. So, who would we talk to about this? A real estate agent? An appraiser? I know that an appraiser would charge a fee, but what would a real estate agent expect? Would it be a fee or a signed contract to sell the house if we do decide to sell?

I have a rental property that I have rented for 15 years prior to 2007. Due to deferred maintenance, I have spent the year remodeling this home. It has been un-occupied the entire year during 2007. Do I omit the Schedule E completely since I did not take in any income?

We’re not sure if he really has TB or if he’s just saying it to buy more time to stay in the home. The new owners will be remodeling the home before they move. Just wanted to know if it would still be a wise move. Thanks!

Mark S asked:

Am thinking of purchasing an older home that needs to be remodeled. Would like to put money down against a seller carry-back of the balance of the purchase price. How can I structure the deal to ensure that the seller, who is financing the purchase, has protection during the remodeling stage.
