Wow they have so many kinds out there. Check your local remodeling store and see what they have online for a selection. They have wood and plastic and who knows what else now days. And for value it enhances the curb appeal of your home. [who]

I don’t know how much they cost but I can tell you that they can make a big difference in appearance. In my opinion a house looks better with shutters in most cases, especially if you have vinyl siding it really makes it look better. [who]

If you’re talking about interior shutters, I’ve seen them advertised for anywhere from $16.50 to more than $25 per square foot. We have had them installed in almost every window in our home. They provide a great way to shade the interior in the summer and help stop drafts in the winter. We love them. We prefer the poly shutters over wood because they’re easier to clean with a damp rag when necessary. Do a web search for decorative shutters and start calling them up. How much they will add to the resale value of your home depends on the home, neighborhood, etc. In some neighborhoods most of the homes have shutters and those that do not suffer in valuation. In that instance, it’s better to make the investment than not. In others, if very few homes have shutters it could be considered a designer feature and will add value to the total square footage. Don’t make this expense if you’re not going to stay in this home for at least 5 more years. [who]
