when i say remodeling, i don’t mean re-decorating, or fashion or anything. Also, what kinds of jobs are available in this field? would i be best off freelancing?

It depends on what phase of remodeling are you looking to enter. The best way to get into this business is to get ON THE JOB training. you can get on the job training by applying for and accepting a entry level laborer or apprentice postiton with a general residential contractor. as for taking classes in college I would wait on that till you have spent sometime working as a employee of someone already in the business and make sure it is what you want to do before you spend al that money on school. Also must pepole that do this type of work actually specialize in one phase of the business, such as roofing, drywall, electrical, and plumbing. thanks for the question [who]

To start with, do you do something NOW that could fall in the category of home repair/remodeling? If you do, and love it! This has to be something that believe you want to do for a long period of time. Successful business do not become successful without hard work. In College you need Accounting, you must be able to account for every penny you earn and spend. This way you keep the IRS happy. When they are happy with your accounting, then you are happy. In any business that you may someday chose to operate.

The most important class you can take for your advancement in business is English. Learn it and use it. After that, use Spell Check! [who]

I would definitely agree with travis…However, the one class that I would highly recommend is a Business and/or Business Management class. Knowing a trade or trades is one thing, but actually running that operation successfully will require education on how to run a business. For many years, I thought I had it going on with my construction business…It was much later down the road when upon enrolling in a business management class that I had soon realized the importance of knowing the logistics of operating a successful business…No matter what kind of business it might be. Also, you might want to check in the area in which you reside to see if there is any private contracting schools available to attend…Mainly because not only will this steer you into the right direction of a trade and/or trades, but it will lead you to the right direction in obtaining your contractor’s license…Mucho Importante!!! Good Luck !!! [who]
